Kalgoorlie is a city in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia, Australia, 595 kilometres east-northeast of Perth. This city was founded in 1893 during the gold rush, and is located close to the so-called Golden Mile.
The official name is Kalgoorlie-Boulder as the current urban complex arose from the union of these two cities.
The biggest attraction in this area is the concentration of mines, and especially The Super Pit, an open-cut gold mine approximately 3.6 kilometres (2.2 mi) long, 1.6 kilometres (1.0 mi) wide and 512 metres (1,680 ft) deep. This mine operates seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. In addition we can find museums where you can discover everything related to the gold rush, the origins of the city or the work on a mine.
But Kalgoorlie is not only gold and mines, it is a city that has an excellent hotel infrastructure, examples, well preserved, of 19th century architecture, and many pubs, restaurants and clubs, as well as art centers and galleries where to discover the Indigenous culture.
