Overview

Belmond Andean Explorer is a luxury train that transports up to 48 passengers through Peru in peerless style. A selection of one- and two-night itineraries journey between Cusco, Puno and Arequipa, taking in natural wonders such as Lake Titicaca and Colca Canyon en-route.

  1. Day 1 Cusco

    Board the Belmond Andean Explorer train in Cusco, the ancient capital of the Inca empire Settle down and unwind in your luxurious cabin as the train begins its journey southeast towards Puno.

    Savour your first lunch on board in one of the elegant dining cars. Refined Andean specialities are served with contemporany flair. 

    After, disembark to visit Raqch´i. Once an important control point for the Incas, it is today a fascinating archeological site brimming with history. Return to the train just in time for tea. Soak up the sensational sunset over La Raya Mountain range, before preparing yourself for an elegant dinner on board. Afterwards, perhaps head to the bar car and chat to your fellow travellers as the train continues to Lake Titicaca where it will stable for the evening. 

  2. Day 2 Lake Titicaca

    Awake early catch the breathtaking sunrise across Lake Titicaca, before enjoying a delicious breakfast on board.
    Today´s tours explore the eclectic beauty and rich diversity fo life on Lake Titicaca, the largest lake in South America and home to may islands. First you´ll take a traditional boat ride out to the Uros Islands carefully created from waven reeds that are constantly being replenished.
    Continue on to Taquile Island, a beatiful island with a way of life barely touched by time. Enjoy a private lunch on Callata Beach with demonstrations from traditional dancers and artisanal workers.
    Return to the train for tea as your journey continues on to Arequipa. Later anticipate a final delicious dinner, before retiring to yor cabin for a restful night.

  3. Day 3 Arequipa

    Enjoy breakfast before leaving on an early morning excursion to the fascinating and rugged landscape of Lake Lagunillas. Then we will visit the Sumbay caves, home to fascinating cave paintings that are estimated to be almost 8,000 years old.
    Return to the train for lunch while the trains continue towards Arequipa. Here we say goodbye as you disembark, whether for a panoramic tour of the city or for your transfer to the airport.

Belmond Andean Explorer offers four types of cabins, each with its own inviting en-suite bathroom and shower.

Interiors seamlessly blend modern sophistication with traditional Andean accents. Designs draw inspiration from Peru’s hand-woven fabrics, with textures chosen to match the soft feel of Alpaca wool.

Our largest cabins are a haven of space, complete with a plush double bed and a cosy seating area with two chairs and a table.

Deluxe Double Bed Cabins
A long wardrobe provides storage, while the spacious bathrooms are equipped with a shower, WC, vanity and pedestal washbasin.

Junior Double Bed Cabins 
Junior Double Bed Cabins include a generous living space in which to unwind. They are fitted with a more compact wardrobe and en-suite, boasting a shower, washbasin and WC.
